Wicked at The Apollo Victoria Theatre, London

A fantastically inventive twist on the well-known story of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked is a family show with a brilliant script, memorable music and special effects that defy belief (and gravity). Forget what you thought you knew about the witches of Oz, as Wicked delves behind the popular story to tell you how it all really began! Songs include: The Wizard and I, One Short Day and the sensational ballad Defying Gravity.

Latecomers may not be admitted to a performance, and if admitted, may not be seated in the seats that have been originally allocated.

Certainly, Wicked has roots in Frank L. Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but many of the concepts from the classic 1939 film are copyrighted by MGM. Look out for clever allusions to Dorothy and her little canine buddy.

Don’t bother queuing for the loo when you get there; the Apollo Victoria is huge and there are a number of facilities throughout the theatre. The ones at the sides of the auditorium are usually free just before the start of the show.

The Apollo Victoria’s stage door is located just down Wilton Road from the theatre's main entrance. If it looks quiet, see if you can meet the cast; signed programmes, posters and flyers go for a fortune on Ebay.

Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre

Originally built as a cinema the Apollo Victoria Theatre auditorium is on two levels: Stalls and Circle, with clear, unobstructed views from all seats. As shown in the seating plan below, the large auditorium offers plenty of choice. In the Stalls rows Q and X have the best legroom. In the Circle price differences reflect height and distance from the stage. Legroom becomes more limited towards the rear of this level.
