|
Anna Mackmin’s production of Me and My Girl, which played at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre last Christmas, could be set for a West End transfer according to rumours on WhatsOnStage.com. The musical, with book and lyrics by Douglas Furber and L. Arthur Rose and music by Noel Gay, includes the famous song "The Lambeth Walk". From Rags to RichesThe action follows the story of Bill Snibson, a Cockney from Labeth, who receives the surprising news that, via a long-lost family connection, he is now the Earl of Hareford - a title that comes with a large inheritance and country estate. But first Bill must satisfy the executors that he can learn the gentlemanly manners needed to join the nobility. Unfortunately, his girlfriend, Sally, is soon on the wrong side of the snooty lawyers, leaving Bill torn between his new-found wealth and working class roots. From the Producers of The 39 StepsThe latest revival of Me and My Girl is led by Edward Snape of Fiery Angel - the theatre production company behind the award-winning hit The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theatre and this summer’s keenly- anticipated comedy thriller The Ladykillers at the Gielgud Theatre.
