The production, directed by Henry Filloux-Bennett, will play from Tuesday 31st January 2012 to Saturday 11th February 2012. The cast includes Harriet Ballard, Simon Grujich, Stephanie Lane, James McNicholas, Rachel Nussbaum, Owen Roberts, Morgan Thomas and Janet Jefferies as ‘Lady Bracknell’. |
High Farce and Witty DialogueDescribed by Oscar Wilde as “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People” The Importance of Being Earnest is set in late Victorian England and follows the trials and tribulations of two wealthy friends, Earnest Worthing (alias Jack) and Algernon, who attempt to lead double lives in an effort to take advantage of social situations and marry two eligible young women, Gwendolen and Cecily. The formidable Lady Bracknell stands in Jack’s way, whilst Algernon is soon trapped in a web of lies when he attempts to fool Cecily into believing that he is the real Earnest Worthing. This hilarious new production remains faithful to Wilde's original script, but includes several modern props and twists! |
