Zach Braff to Make West End Debut

Scrubs star Zach Braff will make his London stage debut in the New Year when he appears in his own play, All New People, at the Duke of York’s Theatre. The show will also play dates at the Manchester Opera House (Feb 8th to 11th) and the King's Theatre Glasgow (Feb 14th to 18th) prior to the West End run. The Beatles musical Backbeat is currently playing at the Duke of York’s and will end its scheduled run early on Saturday 18th February 2012. All New People will open on Wednesday 22nd February 2012. Zach Braff is best known for playing the role of Junior Doctor John "J.D." Dorian on the medical comedy TV series Scrubs. He was the writer and director of the hit 2004 indie film Garden State, a romantic comedy about a young Hollywood actor who flies home to New Jersey for his mother’s funeral and finds himself falling for an attractive girl he meets at a doctor’s office. All New People is Braff’s playwriting debut. The show premiered off-Broadway in July 2011 with The Hangover actor Justin Bartha in the leading role of ‘Charlie’ (the part Braff will play in London). |
The Winter of DiscontentAll New People is set in the dead of winter on the summer vacation getaway of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The protagonist, Charlie, is a 35 year-old with a broken heart who just wants some time away from the world. A deserted beach house seems to be the perfect escape until his solitude is interrupted by a motley parade of misfits who show up and change his plans. They include a hired beauty, a fireman and an eccentric British real estate agent and soon the mood, like the weather, turns anything but sunny. |
