Sunny Afternoon Kinks Musical cast update

Cast changes have been announced for the West End transfer of the Hampstead Theatre production of Sunny Afternoon, a new biographical musical based on the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to fame of his band The Kinks, which opened at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 28 October 2014 following previews from 4 October, and is taking bookings until 24 October 2015.

The cast will be joined by Jason Baughan (Eddie Kassner), Jo Servi (Gregory Piven) and Elizabeth Hill from 6 April 2015. They will join regular cast members, including: John Dagleish (Ray Davies), George Maguire (Dave Davies), Ned Derrington (Pete Quaife) and Adam Sopp (Mick Avory), with Carly Anderson, Philip Bird, Ben Caplan, Lillie Flynn, Emily Goodenough, Vince Leigh, Amy Ross, Dominic Tighe and Tam Williams.

Sunny Afternoon features music and lyrics by Ray Davies, book by Joe Penhall and an original story by Ray Davies. It is directed by Edward Hall and produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman with Greg Ripley-Duggan for Hampstead Theatre Productions.

The creative team behind Sunny Afternoon features musical direction by Elliott Ware, scenic design by Miriam Buether, choreography by Adam Cooper, lighting by Rick Fisher and sound design by Matt McKenzie.

Featuring some of The Kinks' best-loved songs, including 'You Really Got Me', 'Waterloo Sunset' and 'Lola', Sunny Afternoon marks the 50th Anniversary year of the band's debut release. The musical is set against the back-drop of a Britain caught mid-swing between the conservative 50s and riotous 60s, and explores the euphoric highs and agonising lows of one of Britain's most iconic bands and the irresistible music that influenced generations.
