History:
The Gielgud Theatre was originally opened as the Hicks Theatre, named after the actor-manager Seymour Hicks. It then became the Globe Theatre for many years until it was renamed again in 1994 as preparations were made for the reconstruction of Shakespeare’s Globe on the South Bank. Notable recent productions include Frost/Nixon and Equus.
