History:

The Lyric Theatre was built in 1888, and is the oldest theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. The building was commissioned by producer Henry J. Leslie using the profits from his incredibly successful staging of the musical comedy Dorothy at the Prince of Wales. The long-running musical Blood Brothers made its West End debut at the Lyric in 1983.
