History:

The Playhouse theatre has had a varied history, from playing host to a number of long running plays under the management of legendary actress and director Gladys Cooper, to being taken over by the BBC in 1951 and used as a radio studio for many years. Notable productions have included Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (1996) and the controversial My Name is Rachel Corrie (2006).
