History:
Built in 1870, the Vaudeville Theatre has been extensively remodelled over the years without ever being demolished. The venue held successful performances from the very beginning. The famous actor Henry Irving made his name as Digby Grant in the phenomenally successful Two Roses, which ran for 300 nights. Five years later, HJ Byron’s Our Boys, became the first theatrical production in the world to run for 500 performances. In recent times, Stomp ran here for five years between 2002 and 2007 before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre.
