History:
The Arts Theatre opened as a private theatre club in 1927 in a bid to circumvent the censorship laws brought in by the Lord Chamberlain’s office. In 1955, the venue staged the English language premiere of Samuel Beckett’s acclaimed work, Waiting for Godot.
