The Aspern Papers

Juliana Bordereau (the Old lady) played by Moira Lister was once a lover of the great poet, but has kept quite about the affair for years even though she is now poor and could sell the papers for money.

This play is slow to get going at first, but you become more interested in it has the story unfolds and the characters are explored more. There are some fine performances from all the actors notably from Hannah Gordon who plays the niece 'Miss Tina' and Moira Lister as the old lady. We also have some light comic touches from the maid played by Yvonne Bonnamy.

There is only one set, a room in the house of Miss Bordereau's. But it works, it makes you feel like you are in a run down old house in Venice.

As I said it starts a little slow , but if you stick with it I think you will find it rewarding.
